Introduction
In Lesson 4: Finite and Nonfinite Verbs, you learned that a sentence needs at least one finite verb—a verb that shows tense and has a subject. That's still true, but many sentences contain more than one verb—sometimes finite, sometimes nonfinite—depending on their structure.
In this lesson, you'll explore two key patterns that often involve multiple verbs: (1) clauses, groups of words with a subject and a finite verb, and (2) coordinates—two phrases or clauses joined by words like "and", "but", and "or".
